You know you've written a great pop song when you can perform it in a completely made up nonsense language and it still sounds amazing. So, kudos to Carly Rae Jepsen
for taking "Run Away With Me" -- one of the best tracks off our pick for the second best album of the year
-- and performing it in Simlish and having it still be as mind-boggingly catchy and beautiful as ever.
If you don't know Simlish, you've probably never played The Sims, the popular franchise of life/social simulation games from Maxis/Electronic Arts. It's a gobbledygook language that the series' characters have all been speaking since the first Sims game was released in 2000. In addition to translating all of the track's lyrics into Simlish, Carly Rae even got her own official Sim version of herself...which if you're a gamer of a certain age probably makes you a little jealous. The track will be on the soundtrack to the forthcoming The Sims 4 expansion, 'Get Together.'
