The new video from Perfume Genius starts out deceptively nostalgic. Mike Hadreas in a lovely shade of red lipstick, and classic blue jeans, perched coyly on the hood of vintage car in gold roller blades, playing the casually flawless starlet of your Brat Pack fantasy film. The song, "Fool," is a school dance slow burner. The kind of post-disco come down that is meant to score the moment of excited relief when their eyes meet across the purple lit gymnasium dance floor. Hadreas is miles away from eye contact with anyone, locked in a far away stare, the subject of everyone else's gaze.

The video, directed by Charlotte Rutherford, was produced by Urban Outfitters as the 20th installment of their UO Music Video Series. The clip waxes like Pretty In Pink from an alternate universe where it was directed by David Lynch. Hadreas rollerblades through a dream-state narrative: small town streets, through the back door of the rose colored liquor store, and into a black swan candle lit ritual that reveals itself to be an audition.

In addition to curated audition tapes, Perfume Genius has also announced a spring set of North American tour dates. Norwegian singer Jenny Hval will provide support on the two-week junket.
