As 2018 has begun to come to a close, we at Baeble have begun to reflect on our year. Most importantly, we've been thinking about all the amazing hours of music we've listened to. Plus, we've already begun to find songs that promise to become some new favorites in 2019. Here's a little old and a little new, mixed together into one fabulous playlist.
Big Wild- Heaven
Each song that Big Wild releases adds another layer of intrigue to his upcoming album- and if this song is any indication, it's going to be stunning.
Alina Baraz & Galimatias- Pretty Thoughts (FKJ Remix)
Huge shout out to the Spotify Roundup for reminding me about this beautiful song that used to be one of my faves.
Gramatik- Muy Tranquilo
Gramatik just dropped the 5th instalment of his ‘SB' album series (exactly 10 years after the 1st one was released) and it's an absolutely impeccable ode to NYC. It also has an amazing live version of "Muy Tranquilo," and although it's not on Spotify yet, there's no shame in going back and appreciating the original version…. Over and over and over again.
Alison Wonderland- High
Spotify tells me this was my most listened to song this year… checks out.
We Spotify subscribers this week have been deep in our "Top Songs of 2018." I am not entirely sure what this reveals about me other than complete musical schizophrenia, with top songs ranging from the newest to most obscure to Mozart. A couple of my favorites from my own listing of favorites:
Mary Kantor - 3000 Miles
One of our tireless summer interns. Mary's dad is a guitar god and all around cool guy - check out Kantor Guitars. Mary's music is as bright and sunny as she is.
Elohim - Fuck Your Money
How can you not like a performer who's stage name is one of the many names for God. Attitude is everything sometimes.
Odesza - La Cuidad
Makes my hair stand up. I keep telling my daughters I am going to their Sundara Festival in Mexico in March - they keep telling me I am too old. #nojustice
King Princess- 1950
Of course the song I listened to the most according to Spotify is King Princess
1950. Queer Pop is Pop and Love is Love.
