Brooklyn Steel Will Be Your New Favorite Venue

This is extremely exciting news to every New Yorker, Brooklynite, and future visitor of this glorious city because the best new venue is about to open in the spring: Brooklyn Steel.

Brooklyn Steel is the latest project from Bowery Presents - with their first venue, Mercury Lounge, opening over two decades ago. Bowery Presents also has venues all over New York and Brooklyn such as Music Hall of Williamsburg, Bowery Ballroom, Rough Trade and Terminal 5. Will Brooklyn Steel be the cool hipster brother of Terminal 5? By the sounds of it, Brooklyn Steel will be the venue every other venue wishes they were.

Brooklyn Steel will be the largest general admission venue in Brooklyn, holding up to 1,800 people. That number is slightly more than Webster Hall but (thankfully) significantly less than the elbow-to-elbow hell that is Terminal 5. Brooklyn Steel is described as industrial-chic, featuring hundreds of tons of steel and repurposed materials throughout. All of you artsy music fans with an eye for design will appreciate the bar made of scrap metal, four-foot fans from the original steel factory mounted behind the bar and a steel five-ton hook hanging over the lobby - which will feature different art installations from local artists.

Besides how aesthetically pleasing the venue will be, Brooklyn Steel will have raised platforms and a mezzanine level allowing good views of the stage from all angles, forty (yes, four-zero!) bathrooms, three bars, and a 10,000 square-foot green roof designed to confine sound in the venue. Is this heaven in the form of a venue?

Brooklyn Steel has already lined up some of our favorite artists to perform post-opening in April such as PJ Harvey, Pixies, Decemberists, Tycho, Two Door Cinema Club, Animal Collective, Whitney and San Fermin. Can we just fast forward through the winter, please?
