This week's installment of #TBT is dedicated to everyone who broke out their winter coat before Halloween. To everyone who has already scraped ice off of their windshield. To everyone who can feel the biting cold of winter creeping in from the horizon. This week we're throwing it back to the desert, trading the arid cold for arid heat; back to the sultry fever of festival season, and the dog days of Coachella; back to 2013, a time before the polar vortex of 2014 sucked the joy out of falling snow.
#TBT to our poolside session with UK's warmest ambient indie rockers, Foals
. The band doesn't exactly hail from the sunniest place on earth, the UK is known for it's meteoric shades of grey. It's the languid torridity of their sound that evokes a pleasantly suffocating heatwave. During our twelve minutes of summer, the band plays a mellowed out version of their rambunctious hit "My Number," softening the sharp corners of the track, and settling it from a march into a stroll. They also play "Moon," another burner off their critically acclaimed 2013 album Holy Fire
Foals has yet to confirm an official forthcoming album, but their lack of tour dates suggests that they've reserved the last half of 2014 for work on the next record. Until then, get Holy Fire
