I don't really like being negative (who am I kidding, I love it) but sometimes you just have to be. Baeble took a lot of time to praise this year's releases - the best albums
, music videos
, and more. So now, we feel like it's time to shed some light on the very small portion of songs we did not
like this year. As we all know, Meghan Trainor
released a new album this year... So hopefully that will give you an idea of what to expect below.
1. "Me Too" - Meghan Trainor
I mean... Are you surprised? This song is cringe-y with anyone singing it, but even more so when Trainor is singing it, because it feels more like an attempt to make her feel better about herself, rather than authentic confidence. It feels like she's begging
us to like her. I don't think I've ever thought, "I want to be you," so why are you putting those words in my mouth, Meg? Plus, the whole fake controversy before they dropped the equally as awful video... *Yawn*.
2. "Slumber Party" - Britney Spears
This song isn't awfulllllll
, but the video for it is really something else. I don't know, like Britney's obviously still super hot, but she's kind of like my mom now, so I feel a little uncomfortable when I watch her almost make out with some chick half her age. It's the same stuff she's been doing ever since her career started - time to see some growth!
3. "M.I.L.F. $" - Fergie
I've been dreaming of Fergie's comeback for years... Maybe she would deliver another "Glamorous" or "Big Girls Dont Cry" but no. Instead, we got this shit. Whatever this generic shit is. It just sounds like Fergie went purely for shock factor and wanted to see how many curses and youthful slang she could fit into 3 minutes. Joke's on you, Ferg. We're not shocked, we're just bored and disappointed. Sigh.
4. "Million Reasons" - Lady Gaga
Man, is Lady Gaga really
trying to stuff this song down our throats. We never liked it when we first heard it, so of course she chose it as a single and decided to perform it EVERYWHERE, making it completely inescapable. It's so corny and generic and if written by anyone else, would not get any attention. It's not gonna happen, Gaga! Stop trying to make "Million Reasons" happen!
5. "Closer" - The Chainsmokers (ft. Halsey)
This is a little personal. This might be because I just don't like The Chainsmokers. Halsey isn't that bad, but she's gotta cut it out with the Blink-182 reference and tattoo talk - we get it, you're edgy. Also, Dlisted once referred to The Chainsmokers as human UTIs
, which I will never not laugh at.
