George Michael, the 53 year old British pop singer and songwriter was found dead this past Sunday. His publicist has stated the he "passed away peacefully" on Christmas Day in Goring, Oxfordshire.

He first found fame in the duo Wham! and has reached number one multiple times in the UK singles charts. His debut solo album, Faith, won a Grammy for record of the year and has sold over 25 million records worldwide. He also won a Grammy for a duet he performed with Aretha Franklin.

Despite his numerous achievements, there's one important thing we'll truly never forget about Michael: his voice. 2016 was an atrocious year for music icons, and just when we thought the string of painful news was finally coming to an end, we were hit with another hard one. But his gospel take on "Freedom '90!", his iconic hopeless imagery on "Careless Whisper," and his smooth croon on "Father Figure" are all things we will never forget. Michael delivered and will continue to deliver a sense of love, emotion, and care in a world that needs it more than ever.

"I will be your father figure
I have had enough of crime
I will be the one who loves you
    'Til the end of time."
