From the fine folkies that brought you Page France comes a placid new piece of subtle, backwoods psychedelia that just might be your go to record for icy winter mornings when leaving your cozy confines is just not an option. A new project from Michael Nau and Whitney McGraw, Cotton Jones' soon to be released record Paranoid Cocoon (Suicide Squeeze) is a woozy one indeed. The songs that live here are all hot and humid; expect to hear damp pillows of honeyed organ, a wash of sizzling cymbal rides, swinging sixties guitar noodles, and Nau's cool, crooning style that's best described as sounding sort of Morrison-esque. If Beach House has helped breeze you through the last few winters, Paranoid Cocoon will certainly suit you as a nice alternative for a little while.
Cotton Jones will embark on a major US tour next year, and well...we're expecting big things. - David Pitz
