Amid the holiday hustle and bustle, a little Christmas gem has surfaced for our early enjoyment. Icelandic TV station RUV has dug deep in their archives, and found a lovely little scene of 11-year-old Björk telling the nativity story. Originally aired in 1976, the special preceded the release of Björk's little known self-titled debut album; the record is mostly a collection of covers translated into Icelandic, but includes one beautifully arranged instrumental flute-tribute to Icelandic painter Jóhannes Kjarval written and performed by 11-year-old Björk.

The nativity story special, which you can watch here via RUV, is entirely in Icelandic. The language barrier doesn't remotely detract from the novelty of watching one of music's most iconic experimental voices relay one of the world's oldest written stories as an angel faced child.

Björk would launch her official solo career 16 years later with her more identifiable record Debut. For another Björk first, watch her very first official music video for the Debut laid track "Human Behavoir." The video marks the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship with director Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind). Watch below:
