As confirmed by Trent Reznor's twitter on Friday, new Nine Inch Nails is coming in 2016! While we have to admit, NIN's output has been down in quality since the end of the millennium, but now is not the time to give up hope! Much of the criticism of recent Nine Inch Nails material has been something along the line of "Trent's boring now that he's no longer miserable and off drugs." To which we would like to respond with a wholehearted "F*** off." Being a miserable junkie was not what made albums like Pretty Hate Machine, The Downward Spiral, and The Fragile fantastic albums; it was the timing of when they came out that made them great. In 1989, the year NIN's Debut Pretty Hate Machine came out, the top selling album was Bobby Brown's Don't Be Cruel. Seriously, that's how far ahead of his time Trent Reznor was. Not only did he single handedly invent the genre of industrial rock, he also managed to be its foremost producer for over a decade.

Though NIN's Recent output has been down in quality, the soundtracks he's collaborated with Atticus Ross on for films like Gone Girl, The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo, and The Social Network have been nothing short of amazing. Our hope is that he goes pulls more inspiration from the atmospheric nature of those soundtracks than trying to recreate the early magic of Nine Inch Nails. Let's also cross our fingers for some 2016 tour dates and maybe headlining a few festivals
