1. Selena Gomez's mom was recently sent to the hospital… Because of an argument they had over Justin Bieber?
Yep, there are some people in the world who dislike The Biebz so
much, that just the action of saying his name out loud sends them to the ER. Oh, what do you have? Just a deadly case of non-Belieberitis.
A lot of people believed the hospital visit was due to a fight over Selena
hopping back on the Bieber train after fans noticed that her and her mother, Mandy Teefey, unfollowed each other on Instagram.
However, apparently there's more to the story and it wasn't just over Bieber. Apparently the family has been going through a stressful time, and according to People
, Mandy was "voluntarily checked out by medical personnel last week, dismissing a TMZ report that she was admitted due to an argument about Gomez's boyfriend." It wasn't about Justin, and she was going just to make sure everything was okay. A source added "It's true her family doesn't approve of Justin, but this wasn't just over a fight about him."
Bieber's family loves Selena, but the feeling ain't quite mutual. The good thing is Bieber seems to be receptive of that and has been going to church like, 5 times a day, in the hopes that it will prove them wrong. Hey, he can't be a bad guy - he believes in jeeeezuz
Selena's mom also posted a lengthy, heartfelt note on her Instagram a few days ago in memory of Scarlett, the daughter she lost to miscarriage in 2011.
Thank you to all the fans who honored our Scarlett yesterday. Dec 17th will never be the same, but we decide to celebrate her by writing her letters on red balloons and releasing them. Now the 17th is intertwined with the wrap of S2. So, she was there in spirit as always. A moms love for their children is pretty fierce. In order of my girls, Selena, Scarlett and Gracie. Family is what matters, blood or not, #family13 made me smile and feel loved when so needed and they didn't know. Then, I came home to Brian and Gracie to send our love to Scarlett. Fans, I want you to know you are family because I have a huge family and you are the only ones who remember! XO forever. Thank you to the people who respected my post and sent love to Scarlett. I'm sorry I had to take them down. I am disturbed at the words being posted on this from people who can even find an oppt to be vile about a Lost baby. You don't like me, don't spend time on me. Unfollow so, no one has to read such hate.
I'm pretty torn. On one hand, Selena is
an adult and fully capable of making her own decisions, but on the other hand, it seems like the Gomez family is going through a lot of rough patches with illness. Maybe they should focus on themselves and take it easy before getting hot ‘n' heavy with human germ Justin Bieber.
2. Mariah Carey's ex-fiancé basically paid her to not trash talk him.
NY Daily News
reports that Mariah Carey has officially agreed to stay "positively silent" about her ex-fiancé James Packer in exchange for a little somethin' somethin' - her engagement ring and a payout. She got what she wanted, so now basically when she's asked about Packer, she has to make sure she smiles and says "the relationship was nothing but rainbows and sunshine!" If she badmouths about the breakup, she loses the diamonds. Packer agreed to do the same, but he doesn't have a ring or anything, so maybe he won't be as motivated to stick to his word.
A source snitched, "Mariah got what she wanted, which was essentially her engagement ring and a payout. It was not as much as people thought. And James wanted to make sure that they had a deal not to attack each other in public and keep things amicable…They are still not talking, but this is the best deal they can hope for."
This just makes me wonder: WTF did Packer do to bribe her? Obviously if he was nothing but nice, she wouldn't have to agree to hide anything, right? So isn't this just even shadier? Packer, what are you hiding?
NYDN also rehashed why they broke up in the first place, "They made it official in January 2016 but by September following a dreadful jaunt in Greece the pair acrimoniously called it quits with Packer's reps telling Entertainment Tonight: ‘Mariah and James had a fight in Greece, and have not seen each other since. The fight was not because of any cheating allegations or excessive spending by Mariah.'"
Calling the whole thing off because of one fight? And it wasn't over excessive spending? Either that's a lie, or these two need to learn how to have an adult relationship!
3. Tidal might be going bankrupt soon.
Sure, this piece of news is not the least bit surprising, but what is
surprising is the fact that Tidal even made it this long? I predicted Tidal, aka the way pricier version of Spotify, would be sent to the grave weeks after its launch, so sure, even though they might finally be over soon, I say we give ‘em a round of applause for getting this far. Finally people are realizing that an exclusive listen of Kanye's latest album really isn't worth the hassle.
According to Norway's Dagens Næringsliv
, via Engadget, "After reportedly losing roughly $44 million dollars before taxes in 2016, Tidal is now left with just enough cash to last six months. This despite Sprint buying a 33 percent stake in Jay-Z's streaming service in January. The $200 million deal, which included a reported $75 million fund for exclusive content, should've given Tidal ‘sufficient working capital for the next 12-18 months,' said Jay Z's business partner and Roc Nation Sports president Juan Perez."
Tidal then issued a statement:
"We have experienced negative stories about Tidal since its inception and we have done nothing but grow the business each year."
What, so this news is all just fake? None of it adds up -- I'm thinking Jay-Z's accountant should get fired. The company then went on to say they are expected to break even in 2018, but a lot of Jay's claims don't add up. DN reveals "In September 2015, Jay-Z tweeted that Tidal had hit the 1 million member milestone, but the newspaper claimed internal payments to record labels revealed it to be closer to 350,000. Around six months later he claimed it had reached the 3 million member mark, whereas the number was 850,000. Meanwhile, Tidal had internally circulated a figure of 1.2 million subscribers. Since then, the company has kept quiet about user numbers."
Looks like cheating on Beyonce isn't the only thing Jay lied about! Sorry… too far? Fine. I'll just go listen to Lemonade
now. On Apple Music.
