What is there to say about Robyn Rihanna Fenty that hasn't been said before? Probably not much. Yet we are left to wonder, is there anything she isn't capable of? To be honest, we probably don't want to know the answer because I'm sure we all love to watch her take on new projects and kick ass like the total boss she is. Case in point, her latest endeavor... but we'll get to that in a second.
When she first emerged in 2005 with her single "Pon de Replay" she was widely written off as a one hit wonder and boy, has she proven them wrong. Like most young rising artists in the music scene, it's easy to see why she would have been thought of as a one hit wonder. Her voice isn't on the same scale as Beyoncé or Adele which has caused some to label her voice as "flat" and her lyrics as "repetitive". But that didn't stop her from evolving into one of the most influential artists of our generation.
Her influence not only transcends within the music scene where she continues to forge the path for new artists, but also in other creative aspects of her career. She recently just changed the makeup world by launching her Fenty Beauty by Rihanna cosmetics brand in September. Since then, the brand has gained a whopping $72 million and counting since its launch. The cosmetics brand was well received in the makeup industry mainly because of its 40-shade range of foundation and how involved Rihanna was in the production process. It's clear to see how she wanted to represent "the new generation of beauty," where no one was left out.
Aside from her numerous collaborations with distinct fashion brands and award winning producers and artists, she has now moved on to acting. Earlier this year she appeared in the sci-fi movie Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
and also made an appearance on Bates Motel.
All leading up to her role as a bad-ass hacker in the new Oceans 8
trailer which premiered today (see below). The movie is set to premiere June 8, 2018 but until then, we will be keeping our eye on her and pretty much anything she is up to because as we've already learned, she can do no wrong. We aren't mad about it.
