The Saturday Night Live Christmas episode has become a holiday institution, and this year was no slouch, as they had the rambuctious veteran castmember Martin Short host alongside some guy named Paul McCartney. Here are the highlights:
All jokes were set aside during the show's iconic cold opening, as it was given to a children's choir to perform "Silent Night."
You're a Bastard Charlie Brown
Martin Short's impression of "Larry David" is perhaps the highlight of the entire season.
Paul McCartney "My Valentine" ft. Joe Walsh
McCartney sat behind the piano to perform Kisses on the Bottom track "My Valentine." On the album, this song features the guitar of Eric Clapton, but during the show, Paul is joined by the strings of The Eagles' Joe Walsh.
The opening skit is pretty goofy, but the set eventually disolves into McCartney's performance of "Wonderful Christmastime" with the children's choir.
Paul McCartney "Cut Me Some Slack"
Paul McCartney shared the stage for the second time that week with the remaining members of Nirvana (Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear) to once again perform "Cut Me Some Slack." It's the same song from 12-12-12, but it sounds 12-times better.
