Seems that Ryan Adams
and Johnny Depp are closer friends than anyone thought. Not only did they recently team up in London to thrill everyone with a few Danzig covers
, but they also got together to write two new songs for Adam's No Shadow
7-inch. Entitled "No Shadow" and "It's In My Head," both songs don't just feature Depp, but were actually co-written by him. "No Shadow" was the result of a late-night intrusion by Depp and the riff that'd been on his mind all day while, "It's In My Head," resulted from a bit of jamming that cropped up between the two artists the first time they met. "[It was a] true rock and roll moment, as they should be, unfussed and delivered with all the heart and soul we had that night," Ryan noted. There's a third track available on the 7-inch, as well, though this one doesn't feature Johnny Depp's contribution: it's just, in the words of Adams, "a little song (he) wrote about being stoned in the 7-11 parking lot."
There are no samples of the songs available yet and no announcement about whether or not Ryan might release previews before the expected ship date of January 13th, but anyone eager to listen can go track Adams down wherever he is in the middle of his tour
and get a listen.
