Imagine being a huge fan of someone and then getting to open for them on tour. That's exactly what happened to Swedish singer Tove Styrke
, who's embarking on a run of dates as support for Lorde
in Spring 2018. Styrke shared in a statement, "It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of Lorde and everything she creates. And the fact that I'll get to tour with her next year still blows my freaking mind every time I think about it." To celebrate, Styrke has released a cover of Lorde's song, "Liability" -- except it sounds nothing like what the vulnerable ballad once was. The pop singer traded in the grand piano for some minimalistic beats and tropical-flavored synths, and while still maintaining the intimacy that makes the song so lovable, she adds a completely different tone to it. It's labeled as a demo, but the vocals are perfect and the overall product sounds pretty polished.
"I got this idea to make a little something while preparing for the tour and being in the studio finishing my upcoming singles and album. Yay for multitasking!" she shared further.
Finally, a version of "Liability" that won't make us cry our eyes out. I'm wondering if she'll perform this when she opens for Lorde? Fans could first dance to the song and then cry to it later when Lorde plays the original? I'm definitely intrigued. Lorde would be proud. Find dates HERE
