One of the aptest (or maybe most obvious) descriptions for the Kopecky Family Band's live performances is familial. Although not blood related, the six guys and one girl that make up the Tennessee group link vocal harmonies in a way capable of instigating quiet awe over an entire room. All members share duties and many of them play various instruments, switching and swapping, creating a genuine earthiness and surge only a modern folk band could possess. They are also incredibly stellar people-- they performed at our CMJ showcase, the Launchpad, so certainly peep here later for their charming set and interview.
NPR Music agrees. They performed for NPR's Tiny Desk Concert series in a room which when filled with seven people looks rather small. I'm sure this space was full to the brim of the rich and welcoming sway of the Kopecky Family Band.
