Collaborations are always exciting news, but never in our wildest dreams did we think two of our favorite Baeble acts would come together for a glorious, funky collection of tracks like this. Songstress Diane Birch recently set her vocal talents to the soulful backing of The Phenomenal Hand Clap Band to create The Velveteen Age, a collection of covers ranging from The Cure, Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees and others. Preview a song and get more details after the jump.

"The Corrosion" (Sisters of Mercy Cover):

    Tracklist for This Velveteen Age:
    1. This Corrosion (Sisters of Mercy)
    2. Kiss Them For Me (Siouxsie & The Banshees)
    3. Bring On The Dancing Horses (Echo & The Bunnymen)
    4. Atmosphere (Joy Division)
    5. Primary (The Cure)
    6. Tarantula (This Mortal Coil)
    7. A Strange Kind of Love (Peter Murphy)

The album was recorded in Brooklyn in between Birch's sessions for her follow-up to Bible Belt. It hits shelves on December 7th. Meanwhile PHCB are touring in support of their Remixes LP and are playing a late night dance party at Brooklyn Bowl on December 4th. If you live in New York check it out... who knows who might show up! -joe puglisi
