Lots of new music to hear today. Lil Wayne made his triumphant return to the stage in Vegas, Daft Punk continues to be front page news with this Tron Legacy thing they are involved with, and Michael Jackson's first posthumous new song hits the internet amidst questions of authenticity from the speculative media.
Watch Lil Wayne surprise Drake at his Las Vegas show.
The sound isn't great, but it is great to see Wayne back where he belongs.
The latest from Daft Punk's Tron soundtrack, "Tron Legacy".
I don't understand how an electronic band can take something so ubiquitous and repetitive and make it sound so unique and blood-pumpingly awesome but there is a reason why these guys are so famous. Stereogum has the stream.
Michael Jackson, "Breaking News"
Sony must fight off wards of doubters, or at least wards of media rumors of doubters as they push ahead with this brave new Michael Jackson release of unheard brand new songs finished just prior to Michael's death. The song itself can be heard today on Michael's website, and sounds pretty much like a Michael Jackson song, so I guess it has that going for it. It also sets a record for most self-referential song since "Backstreet's Back". And Super creepy when he mentions his obituary at 1:10, right?
