We all need a little assistance on those icy mornings, so why not use some tunes as a helping hand in braving the cold and getting out of bed? This strategically compiled list is a guaranteed way of changing your mood in a matter of minutes. From disco beats to synthetic pop, any one of these hits will put a smile back on that gloomy dial. Here are some upbeat tunes to listen to on those cold, wintery days.

    1. The Foundations - "Build Me Up Buttercup"

This song is all about cheering up and making things happen! The lyrics allude to frustrations, but the beat is quite the contrary. It's infectious from the beginning, before long you'll be humming too loud and in pleasant spirits.

    2. Whitney Houston - "I Wanna Dance With Somebody"

A little bit of Whitney can lift anyone's mood in an instant. With these electronic synths and poppy beats, you'll be dancing in uncontrollable joy long after the song is over. The music video is worth a watch if you need that extra push, the vibrant colors and electric choreography will not fail.

    3. Carly Rae Jepsen - "Cut To The Feeling"

After the release of her album Emotion, Carly Rae has shattered pop charts across the world with her teenage girl inspired lyrics and buoyant beats. Any song from this woman will get you feeling on top of the world, but this one especially will have you soaring away from all of your troubles.

    4. Pharrell Wiliams - "Happy"

Of course this song would make an appearance on this list, but it's a necessity. The title itself already gives you good feelings, but as soon as the music begins it doesn't disappoint. Pharrell's light vocals are refreshing, he pours all of his happiness into the song and that is evidently received in the best possible way.

    5. Talking Heads - "This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)"

The tranquil synths repeating themselves over and over again eventually seep in and start making you feel relaxed, until those drum beats get to you! David Byrne's first ever love song emits a content atmosphere, where serenity is the natural state.

    6. MGMT - "Kids"

A song that has never failed, everything about it evokes fond memories of childhood nostalgia. It takes you back to the school yard where the only concern was how much fun you could have. The synth riff in the middle of the track is a quirky distraction from everything else going on, you're constantly being thrown around within the song, which just adds to the excitement!

    7. Fairground Attraction - "Perfect"

An oldie but a goodie, this track is simple but effective. Eddi Reader's voice carries the song, giving it a feminine charm that evokes a sense of delight. She hits notes that are by far out of most people's vocal range, but it doesn't prevent you from giddily trying.

    8. Kylie Minogue - "On A Night Like This"

Australia's Pop Princess has delivered numerous gems throughout her career, constantly getting her audiences dancing and moving with simple yet lively tunes. With its release in 2000, "On A Night Like This" has aged surprisingly well, this electronic dance number remains just as relevant today. A perfect track to have blasting before a night out on the town.

    9. Daft Punk - "Get Lucky"

These disco funk beats will have you bopping down the street, whilst still managing to avoid those terrible water puddles. Featuring the very happy man, Pharrell Williams, no wonder this tune is exploding with good vibes. The repetitive nature of the lyrics makes it easy to sing along to, further enhancing that jubilant attitude.

    10. New Order - "Ceremony"

This classic is a must have in your winter months, you won't be feeling down after listening to this! The riffs throughout the song hook you each and every time, drawing you in before letting you go to dance it all off.
