There's nothing like a healthy dose of post-modernism in your morning music video routine. Bands performing in their music videos is not a new trope, nor is "band being attacked by evil forces." But a video that not only combines the two but turns both tropes completely on their head is something special. And in their video for "Sting's Teacher Years," Chicago alt-rockers The Kickback
have delivered a raucous, fun, and even just a little bit scary spin on some of the music video's best tales.
We're stoked to have the exclusive premiere of the video for "Sting's Teacher Years." The track itself is a rollicking mix of Tom Petty-esque guitar licks, Strokes-esque ragged vocals, and the winking sense of humor of Spoon. And when it's combined with the video where two criminals beat up the band and try to steal their equipment only for the tables to be turned on them, it's one of the most memorable song/video combos of the year. Dig it below.
