The echoing, boisterous lobby of New York's Comic Con seems like the last place on earth to stage a concert. Thankfully, we can rely on Coheed and Cambria to pull off this marvelous feat.

As part of Yahoo's Crash Concert series, the band performed "guerilla style," With no amplification speakers, microphone, etc.

Amidst a sea of Wonderwomen and Batmen, they played an incredible rendition of "The Afterman." Their sole reliance on acoustics sounds just as strong as the studio version. After all these years, Claudio Sanchez's voice is still haunting.

Their next album, The Afterman: Decision, is set to be released on February 5, 2013. This is the second part of the double-album set; part one being October's The Afterman: Ascension. Coheed and Cambria are being so loyal to their fans that they have released another album The AftermanL Ascension (Big Beige Demos) to fizzle out some of the suspense until February. Big Beige Demos features songs from Ascension in their raw, acoustic forms, just like this rendition at the Comic Con.

As for lead singer Claudio Sanchez, he is extremely fond of comic conventions. His novel series The Armory Wars is currently being adapted into a feature film by Mark Wahlberg.
