It seems like every time Wolf Parade
finish touring a record the guys take a break to work on their respective side-projects (of which there are many). So when Canada's finest announced at a Toronto gig that it would be their last show for a while, everyone probably took the news with a grain of salt. Dan Boeckner contacted our favorite Wolf Parade fansite
and confirmed that the band is now taking an "indefinite hiatus", and according to Pitchfork
, Sub Pop also confirms the break. So it goes.
If this is anything like their previous "breaks", the band will be back before anyone even notices. For now, we've got a new Handsome Furs record to look forward to later in 2011, with Boeckner heading to the studio in January to begin the process with band-mate and wife Alexei Perry.
Catch them at one of their some-odd remaining shows next year if you're particularly paranoid. Expo 86
remains a solid pick for one of the best of 2010. -joe puglisi
