wolf parade announce the inevitable hiatus

It seems like every time Wolf Parade finish touring a record the guys take a break to work on their respective side-projects (of which there are many). So when Canada's finest announced at a Toronto gig that it would be their last show for a while, everyone probably took the news with a grain of salt. Dan Boeckner contacted our favorite Wolf Parade fansite and confirmed that the band is now taking an "indefinite hiatus", and according to Pitchfork, Sub Pop also confirms the break. So it goes.

If this is anything like their previous "breaks", the band will be back before anyone even notices. For now, we've got a new Handsome Furs record to look forward to later in 2011, with Boeckner heading to the studio in January to begin the process with band-mate and wife Alexei Perry.

Catch them at one of their some-odd remaining shows next year if you're particularly paranoid. Expo 86 remains a solid pick for one of the best of 2010. -joe puglisi
