The Grammy nominees were just released, Bjork
just dropped a dope album, and Morrissey
just said some more wildly offensive things. However, I want to jump to what's really
on everyone's minds: is Frank Ocean about to drop a new album?
The singer released Channel Orange
in 2012 and we really liked it. We liked it so
much, that for four years after that, we nagged and begged for a new album until we finally received Endless
just last summer, August 2016. With such a large amount of hype came lots of room for disappointment, however Ocean did well. Blonde
was a success that made a lot of critics' end of year lists and Ocean had exceeded expectations. But after that rollercoaster of emotion, did we even think about how we'd react to the next one?
In 2012, Ocean promised he'd make "5 albums before 30" in a now-deleted Tweet. He just turned 30 this year on October 28. So... Did he keep the ambitious promise he made 5 years ago?
From the singer himself, just posted on his website
"WELL I MADE THE ALBUM BEFORE 30. I JUST AINT PUT THAT BITCH OUT!" -QUOTES FROM AN INTERVIEW I HAVEN'T GIVEN HAHA.
Looks like the answer is clearly yes, he gone made the album! He wouldn't just say that, right...? He just hasn't put it out yet. The question is, will he? And if so, when can we expect it? Will he pull a Frank and continue to release cryptic hints one painful step at a time? Or will he surprise-drop the whole damn thing at midnight? Maybe we'll never get to hear it! But I think what is necessary for any Frank Ocean album is the hype that so inevitably comes along with it. So even though we have no idea what's happening, let's continue racking our brains over whatever message Frank is trying to send us until the end of time. That is what Frank is so good at after all -- racking our brains!
