Last night in Missouri Run The Jewels played a scheduled concert to a packed house, it also happened to fall on the day a grand jury in Ferguson failed to indict police officer Daren Wilson in the killing of unarmed, black, 18-year-old Michael Brown. The controversial decision was met with severe disappointment and extreme unrest, as throngs of protesters took to the streets all over the country.

Killer Mike has been consistently present and articulate in the discussion surrounding police brutality and civil rights in regards to the fatal shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, MO. He has written Op-Ed pieces, appeared on various news networks, and continues to be active on social media with a message of peace, community, and the inherent value of our civil rights.

Last night in Missouri, after the grand jury's verdict was announced, Killer Mike weighed in on the issue again, delivering a highly emotional pre-show speech. He concluded his raw address with a firm restatement of his position: "I can promise you today: If I die when I walk off this stage tomorrow, I'll let you know this: it is not about race, it is not about class, it's not about color, it's about what they killed him for. It's about poverty, it's about greed, and it's about a war machine. It's about a war machine that uses you as a battery."
