Broken Bells' Short Film Brings Disco to Space

    Many of Brian Burton's (aka Danger Mouse) musical incarnations carry a palpable cinematic quality. To date, his most notable was the 2011 Spaghetti Western-themed project with Daniele Luppi entitled Rome. His latest Broken Bells endeavor with partner James Mercer (The Shins) will further express this ongoing theme as their forthcoming album, After the Disco, will be accompanied by a short film. So far, two segments of this film have been released - "Part 1: Angel and The Fool" and "Part Two: Holding On For Life" - which bring us us to a 1960s sci-fi universe for a story starring Kate Mara (House of Cards, American Horror Story) and Anton Yelchin (Star Trek, Charlie Bartlett).

    Although one of the most admirable traits of Burton's music is its ability to frame a visual story for the listener without the need of a single image, it's a treat to finally experience his own film interpretation. Watch Part One and Two below:
