Irish alt-rock band Funeral Suits
have officially announced that they are splitting up. However, before the band departs, they are gifting their heartbroken fans with one last album which we have the exclusive premiere of this week, Islands Apart.
The record, produced by Jochen Shmalbach (Sigur Ros) will be the band's final release. Sonically, it literally sounds like an island - tropical progressions, exuberant synthesizers, cathartic vocals, and euphoric builds. It's unfortunate that this is the last we'll hear from the band, but at least they're leaving us with their most triumphant piece of work to date. It sounds like they're saying goodbye - victorious chants with a hint of melancholy hidden underneath. Vocalist/mult-instrumentalist Mik McKeog told us, "This record means a lot to us. It was a journey writing it and we're proud that releasing it will be our final act as Funeral Suits."
