about the only hyper-aggressive, ultra-combative personality in the rap game I can stand, both because he's unapologetic about his socially unacceptable behavior and because his style has a distinctly cartoonish flare. The hyperbolic pitch of his voice and the sheer absurdity of his threats suggest that he's not entirely serious but also that there's dangerous kind of mania that you'd rather not cross. Is it worrying that he threatened to beat Lana Del Ray like Ray Rice beat his wife? Insensitive, sure, but it's only about as worrying as his most recent attack on Iggy Azalea.
Which is to say not at all. In a leaked clip from the song "Vegas" (which is coming out on the upcoming album SHADYXV, due out November 24th) Eminem compares Iggy's assets with Nicki Minaj's and then dismisses her with a contemptuous wave: "Back to basic / Unless you're Nicki, grab you by the wrist / Let's ski, so what's it gon' be? / Put that shit away, Iggy." It's a nimble if ugly barb but since when have we expected otherwise from Slim Shady?
Take a gander (what's the aural equivalent of a gander?) below:
