the decemberists announce new album

    Fans of nautical sounding indie rock rejoice; merry Portland rockers The Decemberists have announced a full blown LP and a free track for you to take home to your library (below). Today Pitchfork confirmed it will be called The King Is Dead.

    At this point you know what to expect from Colin Meloy and the gang, even when they claim their latest album is "metal" it still sounds like The Decemberists. The new album will feature guitar work from R.E.M.'s Peter Buck, which might explain why this song REALLY sounds like an R.E.M. song.

    The King Is Dead is due 1/18/2011 from Capitol Records. Peep the track and the tracklist below.-joe puglisi
