What better way to kick off your Friday than with a soulful track by 20-year-old London-via-Melbourne artist Cloves
? Today, she released her new song, "Better Now," which was recorded in just one day with long-term writing collaborator Justin Parker. "I swear that 'Better Now' is written almost sarcastically, to move the conversation on," the singer/songwriter explains in a press release, "I had given up trying to talk about how I was feeling and instead started distancing myself... The lyrics touch on the internal conflict I was having about weighing-up if a long term relationship was still working, the back and forth between obligation to someone and the desire to be alone."
Her low growl is soft and at times reminiscent of Lana Del Rey. The mellow acoustic guitar will suddenly be accompanied by thunderous electric guitars and drums, until they fully kick in.
