Fitz and The Tantrums recently brought their brand of pop-catchy-dancing soul music to Terminal 5. It was a packed house filled with fans all over the map: older couples that looked like my parents, high school/college aged kids, and your middle aged yuppie-crowd.
Not surprisingly Fitz is one of those bands where you ask your friend if you have ever heard of them and they say, "no." and then you play one of their hits like, "Moneygrabber" and your friend is like, "ohh I love that song." Their music has an appeal that reaches everyone not mater what your musical taste is, and after witnessing their most recent show at T5, I must say I havent had that much fun at a show in a very long time.
Their incredible live show led by frontman Michael Fitzpatrick (aka Fitz) and co/backup singer, Noelle Scaggs, the band burst on stage with "Get Away" then into "Dont Gotta" and "Break the Walls," which is literally what they tried to do. Non-stop moving and I would say stage flirting between Fitz and Noelle certainly compliments their live show and the crowd was hooked and singing along.
Not having a large catalog to play you have to be great live. Fitz has earned their stripes touring all the time and providing the audience with catchy-pop soul. During the evening the played mostly songs from the their latest release More Than Just A Dream
. With hits like "6AM," "MerryGoRound," "Out of My League" and "Spark." The best parts of the show were their extended jam of The Eurythmics Sweet Dreams and their finale which was the mega hits - Moneygrabber and "The Walker."
