Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. Haven't heard of them for a little bit, huh? They've surprised us with "Hot Coals," a super splendor of a track, possibly their lengthiest yet.
Alex Elbert starts with echoey traveling vocals, the listener growing suspect to how long the vocal intro will continue (although we could listen forever.) But then in comes the band with short, pastel sounds opening up the musical can ever so carefully. Once opened, aromas of a groovy, ambient jam arise and engulf. "Hot Coals" is the finest quality possible. It's intrigue, and the pursual of something weird and beautiful. Ed Sharpe and the Mag Zeros, "Hot Coals;" hot damn.
