This morning, media outlets began reporting the death of the young rapper Lil Peep, whose career had steadily been gaining attention for his unique brand of hip hop. Lil Peep was known for his skillful ability to mix the genres of emo and rap, and his tracks "U Said" and "Awful Things", amongst his other work, received praise for their artful merging of the two genres, as well as lyrically exploring drug addiction, mental illness, and sexuality.

Lil Peep's death is being reported as the result of overdose, though that has not been confirmed by a medical professional. The rapper was just 21 years old. Other artists have tweeted their sadness at his passing, including Sam Smith and Marshmello, with whom Peep was apparently in talks to collaborate.

Lil Peep dropped his album Come Over When You're Sober Pt. 1 in August of this year. It's an excellent album, and we're devastated we won't ever get to hear a Part 2.
