One of the most exciting trends in alternative music spaces of the last 5 years isn't the fact that bands are embracing retro sounds but that they are embracing the essence of AM radio while positioning it in ways that couldn't fly on contemporary commercial radio. Haim spoke to everything we loved about Stevie Nicks. The War on Drugs is Dire Straits stoned out of their gourds. And Italian duo Dumbo Gets Mad put a contemporary and subdued spin on classic 70s soul.

With contemporaries in acts like (early) Miguel and Toro y Moi, Dumbo Gets Mad fuses psychedelia with AM soul ala Al Green. And we've got the exclusive premiere of their track, "Youniverse," and couldn't be more excited about it. It's the sort of tune that makes you want to find someone special, share some Courvoisier, and, well, do that thing adults do when they're listening to this kind of music. We're pretty sure it will do the trick.

Their album, Thank You Neil, is due out 12/4 and can be pre-ordered here.
