As far as music goes, the folk-ballad is our best offense against a wary, tired heart. And nothing resonates more than a character existing deep within his own music, a smoky mix of reserved emotion and bubbling desire. Sean Flinn
is such a character, with a Fitzgerald penned backstory (or so it seems), Flinn and his band The Royal We conjure up camp-fires and ghost stories about lost love.
It's not a coincidence that Flinn's first record is called Write Me A Novel
, he's a literary minded man. The record is said to be a "redistribution of stories accumulated, in the most literal sense, a record from a season of richness." Flinn grew up in Shasta County, "haunting Whiskeytown Lake and the woods of the Northwest with his twin sister". Spooky, but an accurate origin for songs like "Patient Heart", one of those songs that calms even the jumpiest of nerves with it's breadth.
Listen to the track below. Flinn already haunts "the rooms of lovers and friends, family and whiskey bars", but it may not be long before he is haunting your iTunes as well. Buy Write Me A Novel
