Who Is The Real Queen of Christmas: Sia vs. Mariah Carey

There are a lot of people in this world I don't want to ever be pitted against in a fight, and Mariah Carey is surprisingly near the top of the list. And if it's a contest of vocals, then Mariah Carey actually is at the top of the list. Her "All I Want for Christmas is You" is one of the few Christmas songs I actually look forward to being blasted every twenty minutes in the mall for the entire month of December. The woman has some pipes.

Also near the top of the list: enigmatic pop singer Sia, who is apparently releasing a Christmas album of her own, titled Everyday is Christmas, coming to a Gap Outlet near you on November 17.

Though (for better or for worse) Sia may not be the diva that Carey is, it is interesting to think about who would win in a contest of pop music skills. Both singers have made the news recently: Sia for baring her butt on social media, and Carey for being sued by her former bodyguard for many things, one of them being sexual harassment. So I think Sia wins that round (+1 SIA). But consider:

Sia has a three octave range. Mariah Carey has a five octave range. If you, like me five minutes ago, aren't sure what that means, just know that five octaves is a crazy large range for the human voice, making Mariah capable of hitting super lows and hyper highs, and also a kind of mutant. But we don't know if Mariah is still capable of hitting those notes after this viral video of last year's NYE performance:

    (-1 MARIAH)

Beyonce is a Sia fan. I understand that Mariah and Beyonce are friendly, but I don't think Mariah's ever written a song as good as "Pretty Hurts" for Queen Bey. (+1 SIA)

Mariah Carey's legs are insured for $1 billion dollars. Yeah. Billion with a "B". Sia's wigs are custom, but they ain't $1 billion custom. (+1 MARIAH)

Sia writes her song herself. Mariah works with groups of writers. Nothing wrong with that, but Mariah definitely didn't have three songs appear on the Annie soundtrack. (+1 SIA)

Mariah's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" is the best-selling Christmas record of all time. With 15 million copies sold world-wide, Sia's upcoming Xmas album has a lot of catching up to do. (+1 MARIAH)

That's 3 points for Sia and 2 points for Mariah.

Mariah, you may have been sitting in the throne, but Sia just snatched your crown.
