El-P and Killer Mike are men of their word. Even if their word was meant to be a punchline. Meow The Jewels, the fan funded, cat-forward, remix record of Run The Jewels 2, is officially in the works. This week, while on tour in Arizona, RTJ met with Sly Johnson, the fan behind the Kickstarter campaign, to discuss the forthcoming meowlbum (deal with it). The touch on everything from conspiracy cat theory to El-P's plan to produce the purr-fect version of "Jeopardy" for the project.

The Brooklyn based rappers will fulfill a joke advertisement for a $40K copy of Meow The Jewels, available for purchase alongside a $25K version of RTJ 2 which includes a show and tell appearance from El-P and Killer Mike at your kid's school, and a $150K package that includes an RTJ produced episode of Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares starring both rappers as Gordon Ramsey. Thus far, Meow The Jewels is the only project to be underway, with the intention of donating the $40K price tag to the families of Eric Garner and Mike Brown, two recent victims of police brutality. All cat cracks aside, the guys are fucking stoked that enough people give a shit. With the nudge from Sly Johnson, Run The Jewels are proving themselves to be the social activist stuff of Spencer Tweedy's prophecy.
