When the world caught wind of Taylor Swift
's plans to walk away from her country roots and release her first pop-only album, fans and critics were skeptical, curious, and a little excited, but it almost didn't happen thanks to her record label.
In an MTV interview with Bleachers frontman, Jack Antonoff, (who served as a Swift song writing partner), Swifty puts her label on blast for trying to sway her away from switching things up.
The main thing that happened for me with this album was everybody was really scared for me to change up the formula, she said. From the way people at my label would see it was, 'Why are you messing with that? Its our job to mess with that.
Thank God Taylor stood her ground. She's successfully made the label eat their words that she wouldn't sell as much without any country tracks, and is still crushing the music charts with a second week sales count coming in at just over 400,000. Dammnnn!
Safe to say Taylor has her career on lock and knows what she's doing.
