Okkervil River just released an alternate music video for "Your Past Life as a Blast," directed by Isaac Ravishankara. Whereas the first video is quite literal, evoking feel good fuzzies as we watch a happy childhood unfold through a series of home video clips, the alternate video is much more subdued and sensual. This take is vivid and immersed in nature, following a man and a woman as they slink through the woods and dive into a lake in upstate New York. The director does a great job of bringing the song to life; the camera lingers on bodies underwater as Will Sheff sings,"Do ya/do ya want to come and make me shiver?" Appropriately, the couple later holds hands as they shiver and look upon the water. (That lake was actually really cold, after all, and we're told the actors were shaking uncontrollably by the end of the shoot!) Catch the new video here:
