Rhye - "The Fall"
I'm a little late to jump on the Rhye wagon, but better late than never, right? He has such a fresh, clean sound that's really nice to listen to if you're in need of something new.
Lights - "From All Sides"
This is actually a b-side from Lights' 2014 record Little Machines,
so I was surprised when she played it towards the beginning of her set last night at Samsung 837. It was always one of my favorite Lights tracks though, so no complaints. The show reminded me that Lights has so
many good songs - I've been listening to her all morning.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - "Soft Shock"
Oh yeah, I was one of the lucky fans who got to see Yeah Yeah Yeahs earlier this week at Kings Theatre. It was incredible, and I was happy they played one of my favorite songs - this one. What a great show.
DAEVA - "Ache"
So, so dreamy. For fans of synthy, bedroom-dream pop, classic dance rhythms, deep, purring bass, and airy, crystalline vocals.
Four Tet - "Lush"
A fitting title for this track, and a very easy song to sink into and lose yourself in. Four Tet's new album New Energy
is a terrific, contemplative piece of work to unwind to after a long week.
Veracocha - "Carte Blanche"
I don't bring it up often, but I'm a huge sucker for good trance music. "Carte Blanche" is an incredible, textbook trance track, pulsing and uplifting, with layers of rich melody abounding.
KAYTRANADA - "TOGETHER (feat. AlunaGeorge & GoldLink)"
Such a jam. This is one of my favorite Kaytranada collabs off of 99.9%
. It's perfect for some cardio pump up or for that party playlist.
SWV - "Right Here (Human Nature Radio Mix)"
Throwback! Right off my 90s R&B playlist. This remix samples Michael Jackson's "Human Nature" (also one of my favorite MJ songs) and SWV is just so good. Plus, Pharrell has a little chanting feature! Can't get much better than that.
Sampha - "(No One Knows Me) Like the Piano"
This song is beautiful and understatedly powerful. I love the simplicity and it's brimmed with emotion.
HOMESHAKE - "Give It To Me"
"Give It To Me" offers up some of my favorite things: synths, sexy guitar riffs, and dreamy/altered vocals. The simple percussion allows the listener to really focus on the lyrics. It's the perfect song for a lazy Friday like today.
HONNE ft. Izzy Bizu - "Someone That Loves You"
I caught HONNE about a year ago at Warsaw in Brooklyn, and their set was striking. I remember I had gone in excited to hear "Someone That Loves You" because I loved the voice of the featured artist on the track, Izzy Bizu. Unfortunately, she was sick and couldn't make the show! They had a replacement that still did a great job, but nothing compares to Izzy's voice. And I guess today is my lucky day because the singer/songwriter is coming to Baeble HQ to do a live session!
Bobi Andonov - "Apartment"
We featured this song as Baeble's Song Of The Day
about a week ago, and I've been listening to it ever since. It's probably one of the sexiest song I've ever heard, not only because of the lyrics, but because of Bobi Andonov's soulful, falsetto chorus. I'm telling you, this song is everything.
