When most people recover from major accidents, they strive to not take life for granted. They take advantage of everything that can. At least that's what DJ Phoecus did. After spending his 18th birthday in a coma as the result of a car crash, the New Jersey based DJ woke up with what doctors called a one track mind. All he wanted to do was make music. He teamed up with lyricist Mizzy the Wild Child to form the Neighborhood Children, a group dedicated to remixing anything and everything that they can get their hands on, from Joni Mitchell and Wu Tang all the way through M83.

Welcome To The Neighborhood, their first in a series of mixtapes, is sure to get your speakers blasting with guest spots by Ol' Dirty Bastard, DJ Red Alert, and 9th Wonder. The world premiere of Welcome To The Neighborhood is a smorgasbord of hooks, samples, and lyrical wordplay that will make you want to rewind the track for a second listen. The track "Bright Lightzz" is prime for your next party playlist, lifting the hook off M83's "Midnight City" to serve as the riff for the rapid-fire verses. "The Neighborhood is the movement, our thoughts are reckless, but our intentions are beautiful," says Phoecus. If their intentions stay as good as they do on this mixtape, we're all in for a treat. Download the mix in its entirety, exclusively from Baeble.
