In less than two weeks, we'll be hosting our annual CMJ Music Marathon showcase The Launch Pad at Spike Hill in Brooklyn. Sorting through the massive CMJ lineup to plan your own excursions can be a daunting and highly stressful process. To save you the trouble, and quite frankly, to save your lives (stress kills!), we've compiled a group of 12 diverse acts into Friday (10/18) and Saturday (10/19) nights. Neither CMJ badge nor bucks are required to get into our party.

To get you acclimated to our divine lineup, we'll be introducing two acts per day leading all the way up to our first Friday performance. Today, we present to you two of Saturday's mid-evening performers, Strange Talk and Kingsley Flood.

    Strange Talk
    Saturday, October 19th - 11PM

Every October during CMJ we meet more Australian acts than we have fingers and toes to count, and each year these bands leave behind unshakable traces of their country's own thriving indie scene. This year, we expect Wind-up Records electro-pop signees Strange Talk to leave one of the most lasting impressions. Their debut American record, Cast Away was released just this week, so we're thrilled to be getting in on the ground floor by hosting one of their earliest shows.

We're sure you'll be equally enthralled, that is, once you've been exposed to their hook-heavy, infectious dance tunes. We're not making any promises, but we may have to whip out the ole' fog machine for this one. Listen to "Climbing Walls" off Cast Away below.

    Kingsley Flood
    Saturday, October 19th - 9PM

The guests occupying our 9PM slot, Kingsley Flood, have a far shorter commute as the six members come from both Boston and Washington D.C. Unlike the nightclub flash of our aforementioned Australians, Kingsley Flood find their pulse in rustic and melodic rock. Their latest full-length release, Battles came earlier this year and revealed the group's unbridled tone, as its tracks stretch from the floor-stomping, howl-along "Sun Gonna Lemme Shine" all the way to the cool-tempered "Don't Change My Mind". Listen to both songs below.

Wanna come party with us and see these bands at a unique, little venue free of charge? RSVP via Eventbrite.
