Australian band POND put out the single "Sweep Me Off My Feet" last night, their first new music since 2015's Man It Feels Like Space Again. The band's social media accounts announced that the song is the first single from the band's seventh studio album coming in 2017. Information on the band is a little bit convoluted. If you were to go by the band's official Facebook page, the members are Urethra Franklin, Kirk Kobain, Spready Hazel, and Gary. In reality, POND is essentially the main creative outlet for a crew of frequent Tame Impala collaborators, established back in 2008 as an uninhibited, collaborative project. Membership has been fluid through the years, but the core is made up of Nick Allbrook, Jay Watson, Shiny Joe Ryan, and Jamie Terry.

The POND guys had Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker on production for "Sweep Me Off My Feet," a dreamy and immersive psychedelic jam. If you're a fan of acts like Tame Impala, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, MGMT, and the like, you need to get into POND. The band has an authentic sound, fuzzy and warm with bright synth accents. They're perhaps a little less polished than Tame Impala, but that only adds a certain unique quality to songs like "Sweep Me Off My Feet." Like much of POND's work, the song is for lack of a better word, a trip. It's the kind of shit you want to put on, lay down, and just close your eyes to. With echoing vocals, POND seeks a new experience, some passionate fling with an unknown lover yet to present themself to the singer. In the process of listening, you end up swept off your own feet, engulfed by the bright soundscape. I know it's corny, but damn it, it feels like you're floating through space. It's immersive and fun, and we can't wait for more from the minds of POND in 2017. Listen to "Sweep Me Off My Feet" above and check out the band's tour dates below.
