, the trio of D.C. pop darlings, have premiered their new song "Lonesome" in preparation of their new album to be released by Photo Finish Records.
Unpretentious and without any fluff, "Lonesome" exemplifies the virtues of the phrase, "less is more." Singer Chelsea Lee's dynamic vocals demand attention from the get-go, and are well complemented by a sublime piano melody. A swell of strings and percussion join Lee's soaring voice in the chorus, and in the dynamic atmosphere I found myself wanting to pound my chest and sing alongside Lee.
Yet SHAED is able to effortlessly counterbalance the dynamic highs with equally impressive subtlety. Lee nails every note from high to low with her stunning vocal range, and the band's instrumentation is powerful and spirited at all the right times, yet is perfectly subdued when needed. In "Lonesome," SHAED doesn't waste a single note, and their talent does the talking for them.
SHAED can be caught live on tour starting in late November:
