Last weekend, we attended the inaugural Meadows Music & Arts Festival
. Between the refreshing autumn nip in the air and the great lineup, we had a pretty pleasant time. But you know what would have made it even more
pleasant? If we didn't have to dodge massive lines for Kanye's merch in the middle of the parking lot and crazed fans camping out at the main stage all day. Kanye, especially on Sunday, was everywhere. He had his own blocked off section at the merch tent with not one but several obnoxious "KANYE MERCH" signs. At some points we thought, "Is this a festival, or a Kanye concert with just a lot of openers?" Because let's face it, it was all about him.
Let's look into exactly what these people were buying. On the outside, they were hideous: Neon orange t-shirts and sweatshirts with words scattered all over it in a font that's almost as bad as Comic Sans. The prices are outrageously high for something that is literally
printed on the cheapest quality shirt that nobody wants
(the Gildan tags on the inside prove it). So Kanye is probably making each shirt for a couple of cents and then selling them for forty to ninety bucks. And again, it's not even cute! It's like Kanye not only wanted to take all of your money, but he also wanted you to look stupid in the process.
Let's take a look at some of our favorite (and inescapable) consumers this weekend:
