Robert Schwartzman is a man of many talents. It's amazing to see how far he has come since he starred in The Virgin Suicides and The Princess Diaries over a decade ago, and he has no plans to slow down. Not only has he recently scored James Franco's Palo Alto stories and formed his own music start-up (called 22), he just released his synth-pop debut EP, Pleasure District, on October 8. STARSYSTEM is a far cry from Rooney, but still showcases Schwartzman's penchant for awesome songwriting and funky beats. Back in 2011, Schwartzman showed a spacier side to his California rock roots when he issued a solo record under his moniker titled, Double Capricorn.
Schwartzman announced STARSYSTEM to the world via a landing page featuring his debut single "Our Love," which is just evidence of how Schwartzman wants to get you on your feet and dancing to his music. In fact, it seems like there's nothing he wants more. Schwartzman just debuted STARSYSTEM at Filter Magazine's Culture Collide, and we think he'll have more shows up his sleeve to get audiophiles dancing in no time.
We caught up with Schwartzman a few years back on the banks of The East River.
