These days Hollywood isn't having much luck getting in front of hackers. Nudie pictures and leaked demos are dropping left and right, and Hollywood is (fairly) freaking the fuck out about it ... Except Drake. In the wake of his 28th birthday, Friday, Drake decided to give back to me, to you, and to the violated snapchat/iCloud community with a little unreleased hip hop, and a big "do it look like we stressin'?" to some nameless hackers. In a series of tweets on Saturday Drake teased, and then turned over, 3 unreleased tracks.
Originally the tracks were thought to be off Drake's in the works album, Views From the 6, due out in 2015. Each track is accompanied by the new cover art for the record. But then Drake was all, don't think about it too much too much too much, when he tweeted:
GIRL YOU JUST DID IT. Some out there Jennifer Lawrence smiled again. AND that's not even the best part, because we got 3 new (enough) Drake tracks.
"6 God" is a Tuscan Leather type track. Think "Worst Behavior" beat with "Started From The Bottom" bragging rights.
"Heat Of The Moment" is a dialed back Drake ode to Her. Think "The Real Her" meets "From Time" minus the gorgeous Jhene Aiko.
"How Bout Now" — which prompted Drake's shout out to the hackers, having originally inexplicably appeared on a Georgia teenager's Soundcloud account a few days before the Drake drop — is the version of "Marvin's Room" that doesn't make you want to take a shower with a bug zapper, cellphone audio and all.
So just in case you thought Drake was taking 2014 off, grow up, he's "the real 6 God, boy."
