Electronic artist Tourist
just released a gorgeous new video for "U," the title track off of his 2016 album. The video was directed by Jacob Robinson and Dillon Moore. Will Phillips, the songwriter behind the project, shared a little bit about the song with his fans, "'U' is a song about reflection, it was formed from a field recording of me walking from my flat to my studio."
The instrumental track gradually works up to a build, growing more and more intense but never getting too chaotic. Voice samples that sound like they are saying "U" repeat, adding to the ethereal beat. To accompany the atmospheric sound, every scene looks like it was filmed right before sun rise, featuring cool pastel colors. It's mysterious, as we see close ups of a girl with wet curly hair sitting in the front seat of a car and a tormented man roaming in a windy field. The several shots of the baby blue clouds and warm knit sweaters deliver a weird sense of comfort and nostalgic, making it a true gift not only for the ears, but for the eyes.
