Singer-songwriter and heart-wrenching crooner Hamilton Leithauser
(of The Walkmen) released a new single "Heartstruck (Wild Hunger)" recently, and now the stunning track is accompanied with an equally impressive visual narrative by director Simonites.
Following Leithauser through the fields and town of Marfa, Texas, the video simultaneously complements and contrasts the power of the track. "Heartstruck (Wild Hunger)" is a powerful ballad that stands out against the stark emptiness of Marfa, yet the loneliness and sense of space make the intimacy of Leithauser and Angel Olsen
's duet all the more palpable. Interestingly, Olsen doesn't actually appear in the video herself, though she is played by several characters whose appearances synch with her own vocal progressions. In perfect harmony with the track's 1950's-high school-dance mood the final chorus and outro are shot on an aesthetic and melancholic bar dance floor, reminiscent of the crescendo of many a high school proms gone by.
Hamilton Leithauser is on tour
from now until late November.
