it's hard to ignore the subject matter of these songs, specifically her ex-boyfriends. Well, the crossover country star is done letting critics walk all over her and has spoken out about what she considers to be "sexist" comments and her feisty pop star pal,Demi Lovato
, has her back. Not known for keeping her opinions to herself, Lovato has frequently spoken out about many social issues, but feminism seems to have struck a major chord with the singer, especially in defense of her BFF.
A recent hot in the music world,especially after Eurythmic's singer, Annie Lennox, labeled Beyonce's famous "Feminist" performance on the VMAs as feminist-lite.
She publicly stated that she believed the star used the ideology to promote herself rather than the movement.Though Lennox has recently backtracked on these comments, Lovato is standing strong on her position about feminism in music.
She says, "Don't fuck with me if you're going to say women suck." Demi believes that her message has always been about "inspiring women and inspiring everybody to be honest." The "Heart Attack" singer defends her friend further by expressing that Taylor is one of her few friends who hasn't let fame get to her head. "She is one person that I feel like, one of the few people I've maintained a friendship with in this industry."
