Turns out Ed Sheeran
was a little hurt that Miley Cyrus
and others took his comments back at the Grammys -- where he described Miley's twerk as "a stripper move" -- the wrong way. As he explained it to British newspaper The Sun in an interview, "I do feel bad about it. My general point is I wanted her to sing the songs so people could see what an amazing artist she is. I just worded it wrong." You'd think an award-winning singer-songwriter known for his lyrical prowess (hey, I'm not the one giving out these awards) would be a tad more eloquent but hey, they can't all be gems.
The same interviews included a lot of blather about Taylor Swift and Courtney Cox, as well, but it all honestly comes across as name dropping and self-inflation, nothing really much worth commenting on. The only real gem is that he thinks Taylor Swift gets too much derision for writing break-up ballads whereas he and Bruno Mars escape the same backlash. An interesting perspective, considering everyone I know tends to despise the kind of treacly sap Mr. Mars and Mr. Sheeran pour out as much as anything Ms. Swift does. But hey, it's a big world. Anything can happen.
